Delivering enterprise-grade gigabit-speed connectivity to purpose-built student accommodation

Using Trogon Remote Links Service to deliver ultra-fast enterprise connectivity to purpose-built student accommodation

As students returned to university following the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, a hall of residence in Cardiff found it needed connectivity for 700 students with less than four days lead time. Trogon delivered gigabit-speed connectivity to the purpose-built student accommodation block in Cardiff in this time.

Unite Students

Unite Students provides accommodation for 76,000 students in the UK and is the UK’s largest provider of purpose-built student accommodation.

Students expect that their accommodation has excellent connectivity.  The impact of the pandemic on higher education means that universities increasingly rely on connectivity to provide access to online learning. High-speed, enterprise-grade connectivity is essential.

The impact of lockdown

Lockdown due to Coronavirus saw students forced to leave their accommodation at short notice.  Lockdown restrictions meant that access to halls of residence and routine maintenance activities were restricted for nearly six-months.

Trogon Remote Links Service

Trogon used its Remote Links Service, with new high-performance equipment to provide the bandwidth required to serve several hundred students.

The Remote Links Service was engineered to provide the multi-gigabit-speeds needed to support online learning.

Trogon were delighted to be able to support Unite in connecting the two halls of residence together.

The brief and timescales were not daunting for us, we simply had to focus on logistics, mobilising and putting into action our plan.

On the day everything went smoothly because of our preparation, enabling us respond so quickly.

Every part of our team came together to make this happen and that’s why we thrive on the challenge and focus on delivering the service to the highest standard.
